August 2 - 6, 2010

This Road Report information is provided as a public service and includes major construction and maintenance activities that delay or detour traffic on County-maintained roads. Listings may change without notice due to weather delays, equipment problems, and unforeseen circumstance. Check this page often for the latest information. Please observe all posted signs and detours. Use extreme caution when traveling through construction zones.

South Kitsap Area

The contractor is finishing up with stormwater conveyance within easement areas.
Two lanes of traffic are open with appropriate controls, however, there may be short periods of time when traffic has to be stopped to allow for movement of materials and equipment. Flaggers assist motorists when necessary, and delays are minimal if any. This projects continues through the summer.

(from Harper Dock to SE Olympiad Dr.)
Crews are working on installation of the stormwater conveyance system on the west side of the project (near the Harper Dock). This continues through most of July. Roadways within the project limits are down to 1 lane with moderate traffic delays (5 to 10 minutes).
Traffic control is in place, and flaggers assist motorists through the work area when necessary. Anticipated completion date is October 6, 2010.

(Belfair Valley, Sherman Heights)

Traffic impacts this week are:

  • Sherman Heights will be closed during the daytime until 3pm from the railroad tracks up to the Kitsap Reclaimation pit.The closure will be for the immediate work area as laterals are placed to the businesses and residences.  Crew are working to allow one lane traffic through once the connections at the main are complete.  Expect long delays if trying to travel through the work area.
  • Belfair Valley Road is one lane alternating traffic from Navy City Metals  to Sherman Heights for the lateral connections.

Culvert Replacement Project
This project began July 6th for replacement of a culvert under Seabeck Holly Road at Mile post 0.89, just south of Foley Lane in the Seabeck vicinity.

Seabeck Holly Road is closed through August 16

(from Anderson Hill Rd. to Lowell St.)
Linden Land Development and Excavation, Inc., is potholeing and sawcutting the road for a new water main installation beginning Thursday. The main work for pavement removal and water main installation is at night from 8/9/10 - 8/30/10 between the hours of 7:00pm and 5:00am. Minimal delays are anticipated. Flaggers assist motorists through the work area as needed..

(East of Frontier Place NW to Old Frontier Road NW)
Potelco, a contractor for Puget Sound Energy, is upgrading power along NW Anderson Hill. This requires cuts and/or boring across and under the asphalt. Traffic is restricted to one lane during working hours (7 AM to 6 PM, M-F) and significant delays of up to 20 minutes are expected. Use alternate routes to avoid the are if possible. Work on this project is scheduled to be complete by the end of August.

North Kitsap Area

delays up to 10 minutesCliffside Road - Road Improvement Project
(from Hood Canal Dr. to NE Little Boston Rd.)
Crews continue working on the stormwater conveyance system with work on roadway excavation and embankment construction. Traffic is down to one lane with alternating traffic and we anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes during work hours. Traffic control is in place, and flaggers assist motorists through the work area when necessary. Anticipated completion date is November 3, 2010.

County crews are paving the road Monday. Road will be closed during paving. Work is weather dependent and flaggers assist motorists around the work area as needed.

(from Waaga to Paulson then down Paulson 1500 feet)
RJC Construction is installing a water system for Silverdale Water Monday through Friday Minimal delays are anticipated. Flaggers assist motorists through the work area as needed. The project lasts through September.

delays up to 10 minutesS.R. 305 - Unnamed Tributary to Liberty Bay - Culvert Replacement (click here for location map.)
Washington State Department of Transportation with Frank Coluccio Construction is replacing a culvert allowing fish passage to Liberty Bay. The work is scheduled to last through October. Click here to visit their website for more information.

    Please note the road  is closed at this location  to all traffic August 16 through September 27.

    This project continues through September 30, 2010.

 General Maintenance

General Maintenance indicates crews are working in areas adjacent to and outside of the driving lanes. This work includes any of the following: 

  • snow and ice control

  • road approach work

  • storm system and ditch restoration

  • , shoulder maintenance

  • sweeping

  • overhead brushing

  • road crack seal application

  • vegetation management

  • storm clean-up

  • maintaining and lifting manholes

  • general system maintenance

  • other maintenance activities as required

Use caution when passing roadside workers. Flaggers will assist motorists when necessary.
