Kitsap
County Government Awareness Week
April 21-25, 2008
Eligibility
All students in grades ninth through twelfth
grade – public, private, and home schools in Kitsap County.
Theme
Posters, videos
and essays must promote or celebrate Kitsap County Government with
the theme “My Kind of Kitsap: My Community, My Space.”
Requirements
Projects not
meeting these specifications will be ineligible.
All artwork must be original. Posters must be 8 ˝” X 11”. Essay
are not to exceed two typed double spaced pages in Times New Roman
with 12 point font. Videos are not to exceed 5 minutes in length
and must be in DVD form.
Release
A completed,
signed release form must be firmly attached to the back of
each entry. Projects submitted to the contest become property of
Kitsap County and may not be returned to the artist.
Judging
One winner will
be awarded in each of the divisions; poster, video, and essay.
Projects will be judged on knowledge of Kitsap County government,
creativity, and appropriateness to the theme.
Awards
Each winner
will receive an Award of Excellence, a $250 award, and be recognized
at the May 12, 2008 County
Commissioner meeting. A reception in the winners’ honor will be held
following the Commissioner’s meeting. The projects of all entrants
will be displayed in the lobby and on the County web site.
Deadline for Entries
Entries must be received by Sara Clements-Sampson at the Kitsap
County Commissioner’s Office no later than 4:00 pm, Friday, April
30,
2008. Mail – 614 Division St. MS-4,
Port Orchard, 98366. Drop-off delivery – 619 Division St, Port
Orchard.
Policy of Inclusion
If these rules
prevent a child with a disability from entering the contest, the
teacher or leader organizing the program is authorized to alter the
rules to the extent necessary to allow the child to participate. For
example, if the child is unable to do hand lettering, he or she may
utilize a computer. The size requirements can be waived if a child
is unable to draw within the size restrictions. It is up to the
organizer to determine for whom this policy is appropriate.
